Style it with Satin

The Satin Square is a fashion staple that can immediately elevate your outfit by adding lovely a pop of colour and pattern. Our Spring/Summer tropical printed scarves are particularly beautiful and there are so many ways you can show off the designs! If you’re looking for ideas on how to style this versatile accessory, look no further as we’ve put together a guide on 10 different ways you can wear it. Styling with our Elephant Parade Satin Square, we’ll show you how you can wear your satin square anywhere you’re heading to, from the beach to the cocktail bar!

For reference, here’s the best technique for folding your scarf longways:

THE CLASSICALLY CHIC STYLE

This is a great way to wear your scarf if you’re putting together a casual outfit – whether it’s worn with a t-shirt, sweatshirt or denim jacket.

Start by folding your scarf longways. Next, wrap your scarf around your neck once and finish by tying the ends in the front. It really is that easy!

THE EFFORTLESSLY ELEGANT STYLE

If you’re in the mood for some nonchalant styling, this one is for you! All you need to do is roll your scarf diagonally, then drape it around your neck with the ends hanging down loosely. Make sure you’re not wearing this on a windy day as you don’t want to end up chasing your scarf down the street!

THE FRONT TWIST HEADSCARF

Satin scarves can make a fabulous hair accessory – wouldn’t you agree? There are a few techniques you can use, but this is our favourite for a chic day-to-day look. Tie your hair into a ponytail then follow these steps:

1. Fold a large scarf longways and rest it onto the back of your head
2. Wrap the ends to the front of your head and tie them in a reef knot on the hairline
3. Tightly twist the remaining scarf ends
4. Tuck the twisted ends in

THE BEACH HEADSCARF

Do you have a beach holiday coming up? If you do then you might want to add a satin scarf to your packing list! Sunhats are of course great for protecting your head from sunrays, but satin scarves are an elegant alternative. Plus, it means you can lie back wearing it without a hat brim getting in the way!

To achieve this look, first fold the scarf diagonally in half. Then wrap it around your head with the middle corner facing the back, and tie the other corners together. Tuck the centre corner under the knot, and viola! You’re ready to hit the beach!

THE HANDBAG ADORNMENT

Fancy jazzing up a plain handbag? Well a patterned satin scarf can do just that! First up, you want to fold two corners (from opposite ends) into the centre. Then simply roll up your scarf and tie it into a bow onto the handle of your bag. Depending on the style of bag, you could place it on the centre of the handle or one side. Either way, it’s a fabulous trick to refresh an old faithful handbag!

Styles with Jeans & off-the-shoulder top:

THE SIDE DRAPE

This is a super sleek way to dress up you outfits! Simply tie a knot on the side on the side of your neck and drape one end at the front of your shoulder and the other at the back. You can then unfold the front section to create extra volume and show off that print!

THE LOW NECKLINE TIE

In a rush to leave the house? This style can be achieved in seconds! Fold your scarf into a triangle shape, roll it up loosely then tie it low on the neckline – and you’re good to go!

If it’s jacket weather, pair your scarf with a light trench coat to complete this elegant look.

THE KNOTTED TIE

This has got to be one of my favourite ways to wear a satin scarf from Powder’s collection. It works with various outfits and it stays in place all day! Firstly fold your scarf once into a triangle shape, then with the centre corner facing downwards, take the other corners and cross them behind your neck, then bring them back to the front of you. Finish up by tying the ends together in a knot and you’re done!

THE BEAUTIFUL BELT

Belts aren’t known to be the most exciting accessory out there – but they can be the talking point of your outfit if you turn your satin scarf into a belt. You could tie your scarf belt in the loops of your jeans or cinch a dress in at the waist this way. Simply fold your scarf longways, wrap it around your waist, then tie a double knot between your centre and side.

THE HALTER-NECK TOP

Have you ever thought of turning your satin scarf into a piece of clothing? It’s the perfect way to show off a beautiful print like this one.

1. Fold your scarf diagonally
2. Tucking the middle corner under your chin, hold your scarf up with the folded side at hip level
3. Untuck the scarf corner from under your chin, then cross both sides of it around your neck and tie them together
4. Take the bottom corners at hip level and tie them behind your back

There are so many occasions you could wear this look! For an easy daytime outfit, pair your scarf top with a pair of jeans and a straw hat, or when you’re out having cocktails with your girls, dress it up with a midi skirt.
