Recipe: Getting Batty with Oreos

As you may know, we love getting creative in the kitchen – sharing some of our favourite recipes to help inspire you too! We spotted these frightfully cute Bat Oreos on LoveToBeInTheKitchen, and thought that we would try something similar for Halloween!

These are super easy to make, and don’t take long at all – you do have to wait for the chocolate to set, so if they’re for a special event – give yourself plenty of time and - if possible - make them the day before!

100g Dark Chocolate
White Chocolate Buttons to make 20 ‘Bat Eyes’


To make your ‘Bat Wings’ you will need to take five of the Oreos and separate the pieces, scraping off the filling inside.

Once this is done you can carefully cut each of them in half so that each Oreo will give you four ‘Bat Wings.’

Take two of the Oreo ‘Bat Wings’ – slotting them into the cream filling of an Oreo, pressing down slightly to help them stay in place. Continue this process for each of the Oreos until you have the ten ready for decoration and place upon a sheet of greaseproof paper.

Break up the dark chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl, melting for around 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Using a spoon, scoop a little of the melted chocolate on top of each of the Oreos, using the back of the spoon to evenly spread the melted chocolate over it.

To make the eyes, gently press two of the white chocolate buttons onto the Oreo, using a cocktail stick to delicately drop the dark chocolate into the centre of the button to make the pupil.

Once you’ve done this to each of the bats, you can place them in the fridge or freezer until the chocolate is set.

We suggest that you keep them stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
