Discovering St Andrews: Town Centre

The team here at Powder love a little trip away, a slight change of scene can often make the world of difference, helping you get inspired and see things a little differently! We consider ourselves very lucky to not be far from some stunning locations where there are some wonderful eateries, boutiques, coffee shops and more!

For this reason, and to help us get even more into the festive spirit, we headed up to St Andrews for the day! Read on to find out where we got a spot of lunch, which local shops we popped into, as well as which one of our fabulous stockists had a fabulously festive window display full of Powder goodies!

LUNCH AT BALGOVE LARDER

Our first stop when we arrived, as always, was to grab a bite of food! Having heard wonderful reviews, we popped along to the Balgove Larder; a farm shop that is situated just outside St Andrews! Conceived from a love of fresh, Scottish fare, Balgove has become a hub for top notch locally reared, grown, stalked, caught, handmade, and prepared foods. It was delightful to get warmed up with soup and a sandwich as well as trying one of their delicious salads! Once we finished up our pot of steaming hot tea, we had a gander around the farm shop – taken in by all the fabulously festive decorations and treats!

Unexpectedly, when we walked out of the exit, we came across their own flower shop too! Seems like Balgove has it all – apart from Powder, of course!

LOCAL TREATS

We then headed back into the town, having a browse around the shops, looking into windows full of tasty treats, all while keeping nice and cosy in our Powder accessories!

The great thing about St Andrews, is that you can walk through the town in a relatively short period of time. This gives you lots of time to look around each shop of your choice, never feeling like you need to rush around or feel the stress from fellow Christmas shoppers!

GOING BONKERS FOR BONKERS!

It was as we were looking up at the sparkly lighting display that we spotted the sign ‘Bonkers!’ one of our favourite stockists with stores in both St Andrews as well as Edinburgh! As we crossed the road we were taken in by their fabulous window display, looking very festive and full of Powder accessories ready to be bought!

Given, as much as seeing all our Powder products brought us inside, that doesn’t mean to say we didn’t love having a look – a feel – and a smell at some of the other items that they stocked! We always have time to sniff a candle or a diffuser when we go out shopping!

Would you look at those colours! It’s not everyday that we get to see our Printed Scarves displayed together, it’s lovely when you see the colours from different scarves helping to make other colours pop. What is your favourite print? Do you have one that you’re planning to gift a friend or family member, perhaps you already have one yourself that you wear everyday or on special occasions? We love our Printed Paisley Satin Scarf in Berry – a lovely take on our Paisley Print and ideal for Christmas nights out!

Are you struggling to find the perfect gift? We always think that our Gift Sock Boxes help to take out any stress and fuss of buying for people, yet still making a thoughtful and beautiful present. In each box comes three carefully curated sock choices in a matching box that makes it even easier to wrap – if you’re not a fan of wrapping – all of our products come with their own complimentary gift bags – making things extra easy!

If you’re in need of a fun little extra, why not pick one of our cute Ankle Socks! Not only do we make them with lovely little patterns and prints, we also have a few designs with fabulous forest creature faces! Perfect for a quirky choice!

FESTIVE SPIRIT

As the darkness cast over the town, that’s when the magic of Christmas was really able to sparkle. The warm yellow light from the shop windows looking even more inviting as the chill settled in, with fairy lights twinkling in the sky, we left St Andrews with our bags full, our stomachs satisfied, and the spirit of Christmas in our hearts.
