Behind the Scenes: Autumn/Winter 2019 Photoshoot

Hello my Powder lovelies!

Have you checked out our newly launched Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection yet? I don't know about you, but after the heatwave of summer, I’m more than ready to get snuggled up in some of Powder's cosy accessories when the colder weather greets us!  With this in mind, I thought that it's the perfect time to share what we got up to behind the scenes of our AW19 photoshoot that took place way back in January!

We decided to shoot against the glorious Scottish backdrop of the Pentland Hills up at Secret Herb Garden and Swanston Farm, as well as in the colourful streets of Copenhagen! Not only did we have two stunning locations, we were also lucky enough to shoot two beautiful (inside and out) models – Lauren, who you may recognise from our previous shoots, as well as Barbara – who helped add a touch of Scandinavian elegance to our looks!

As always with shoots, it was a bit of an early start – with lots of preparation! That being said, we were lucky enough to have a dry (be it a little cold) first day in Scotland, the fresh air and coffee helping to invigorate us as we traveled! The Powder team met up with our wonderful make-up artist Jak at The Secret Herb Garden before giving a warm welcome to Lauren and getting started!

Our first look was filled with wintery goodness, keeping wrapped up cosy and warm in our gorgeous Felicity Wrap (which we've designed in both a stone tone pictured, as well as in charcoal), our Betty Wool Gloves in fuchsia, as well as our new Felt Feather Hat - another design with two colour options - tangerine and cream. Having previously checked out the location, we knew that we were in for some fantastic spots in which to shoot our collection. We simply loved the simplicity of the painted building merged with the wooden accessories - helping to give the sense of a rustic far-away lodge!

Not only did we have stunning locations outside, the Secret Herb Garden also boasts a beautiful glasshouse – often being rented out as a unique wedding and special event venue. There was an array of fun – almost Alice in Wonderland like – armchairs which we simply couldn’t refuse to shoot with! What better to use to help show off our lovely new longer Boot Socks? This season we have launched nine styles of Boot Socks – ideal for those early morning dog walks, keeping your feet and legs cosy – or perhaps even just lounging with around the house! Be sure to check out our full range of Autumn/Winter 2019 Sock Collection linked here!

After shooting at our first location, we headed along to our second – the beautiful Swanston Farm – where a grand horse was waiting for their close-up! We were very lucky that Lauren is more than comfortable when it comes to working alongside horses, modelling our range of Satin Scarves and Wool Gloves while making a new best friend.

It's safe to say that we were delighted with how the first day of shooting went, however - we had a whole other shoot still left to do - which meant packing up and getting ready to travel to Copenhagen!

After getting settled into our hotel and having a good nights sleep, we woke up nice and early to meet our model Brenda, have her hair and makeup done by another Powder favourite Make-Up Artist – Molly, before heading off to the main coloured stretch of buildings in Nyhavn! The 17th-century waterfront in Copenhagen made the perfect backdrop for our bright and bold collection! It stretches from Kongens Nytorv to the harbour front just south of the Royal Playhouse and is lined by brightly coloured 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants! Definitely worth a visit!

Who else loves our Cosy range of Hats, Wrist Warmers and Mittens? They’re perfect for keeping cosy on the colder days while still looking fun and unique! They looked so adorable on Brenda! As you can see, our photoshoots are a family affair – everyone getting stuck in and wrapped up as much as possible! Which selection of Cosies from our Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection will be added to your basket this season?

The time seemed to go so quickly, managing to photograph an array of accessories and outfits, it wasn’t until the sun started to go down that we looked at the clock! Just in time to re-shoot our Satin Scarves but in a completely different way to how we shot them in Scotland! We love the fact that they can be so versatile! Looking just as good for a casual day wear look, as much as they can be worn with a glamorous evening outfit!

It’s been so lovely to look back and remember the fun and hard work that went into making our Autumn/Winter 2019 Photoshoot what is was! I think that we can all safely say that the photos speak for themselves! Which shoot did you like the most? Are you more tempted to take a wander around the Scottish Highlands – or would you rather be drinking coffee in Copenhagen? More importantly, which items from our new collection will be making their way into your wardrobe?
